Frida's Restaurant - Juarez, Mexico
The interior of this restaurant is a visual delight enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
A reproduction of one of Diego Rivera’s murals can be partially seen over the bar in this photo. Rivera (1886-1957) painted large wall works, many of which still appear in the United States. He helped establish the Mexican Mural Movement of the 1920’s. His wife and the restaurant’s namesake, Frida Kahlo, was destined to become a renowned painter in her own right.
Expect to have a difficult time deciding between among the many types of dishes offered—everything from seafood to traditional Mexican dishes, to bar-b-que. These ribs were delicious.
The main dining room is lit by filtered sunlight during the day and has a subdued atmosphere perfect for the blend of cousine and art that Frida’s offers.
The visit to Frida’s had one final surprise in store, the tranquil and romantic music of “Saulo”, a local artist. Frida’s has a first class sound system.
Frida’s is a combination of atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices ($10-$14 a plate as of 11/2003).
