Free Services
Free Spanish Lessons: The JTG is now an affiliate of the U.S. Institute of Languages Visual Links Spanish program, which offers you 11 free audio/visual Spanish lessons. You will need a sound card and speakers or headphones.
This company is one of the few around which still believes in letting you really “test drive” the product before you consider purchasing it, which is why, like everything else in this guide, I can highly recommend their program!
Juarez Discussion Forums: The forums are available in both English and Spanish. The structure of the forums mirror the structure of the Juarez Travel Guide, but there are General topic forums available where anything goes (except adult topics and flaming other posters). If a subject becomes popular, the forum moderators will open a new forum for that topic.
Juarez Newsroom: Major news services always have categories of news (top stories, science news, etc.), but have you ever seen a service which instead shows you the categories and then lets you drill down to the major news services?
Juarez Travel Journal: Reader contributions will one day become the life blood of this web site. I cannot cover all of the ground in Ciudad Juarez by myself, so I welcome your photographs and travel experiences. You may publish in English or Spanish.
The first submission has come from Marc Petersen of Rotterdam, Holland. He had been chatting and emailing with a girl in Ciudad Juarez on the internet for two years and visited in January, 2004 to finally meet her and her family in person. I believe you will find his enthusiasm refreshing. Marc also submitted some good photos of the Old City Hall Building’s fascinating interior. You can read his article, “Juarez is a People’s Place”, and view a photo gallery of the pictures he took.
