Hong Kong China Restaurant - Juarez, Mexico
Chinese food is extremely popular in Juarez, so much so it’s hard to drive very far in any direction without seeing a Chinese restaurant. There are many neighborhood Chinese restaurants such as this one.
In one word Hong Kong China is exceptional. The restaurant is owned by the gracious Señora Maria Luisa Su de Chin, who traces her ancestry to (surprise) Hong Kong. The dining room is small, seating perhaps 40 people, and tastefully decorated.
Before the main dish, however, a word about the rollos de huevos (egg rolls). Ordering egg rolls for each person in your party might be overkill. They come in an order of two for 25 pesos (about $2.50) and are practically a meal unto themselves.
Camarónes con Salsa Langosta (shrimp with lobster sauce) is a specialty dish here, a choice I have selected for a number of guests who were undecided. All were pleased. No sweet and sour sauce or hot mustard is required to enjoy this dish. It is served with won-ton soup.
